IMMEDIATE RESTRICTION ON IMPORTATION OF ENGLISH CUCUMBER

Board-members-extention-final-1

Due to the increased production volume of English Cucumber locally attributed to favourable climatic conditions, and as some traders persist on importing, producers finds it hard to market their product. Hence, the following measures will be implemented by the NAB to remedy this situation as per the existing MSP rules and regulations:

  1. The border will be closed for the importation of English Cucumber into Namibia, effective Friday, 25 September 2020, until further notice.
  2.  All valid Special Import Permits that were issued for English Cucumber shall automatically become invalid as from 25 September 2020, and shall not be accepted at all border posts, unless if there are other special controlled products on such permits, for which the border is currently open for importation.
  3. The NAB Compliance Inspectors will conduct physical inspection at the entry border posts or at first offloading point to ensure full compliance to these requirements and any illegal importation shall be dealt with in accordance with the existing punitive measures.

Thank you for your usual cooperation. For any further enquiries, please do contact Ms. Emilie Abraham (Manager: Horticulture Market Development) at +26481 1421228 or email to Emilie.Abraham@nab.com.na
